Role Overview
As a Business Development Engineer – GCC, you will play a key role in expanding AVAR's presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region by identifying and developing new business opportunities within the Data Center, Critical Infrastructure, Energy, Industrial, Telecommunications, and Digital Infrastructure sectors. As part of our team in Head Office - Dubai, you'll work in a HYBRID environment, collaborating closely with clients, consultants, contractors, technology partners, and internal engineering teams to deliver technical solutions that meet customer requirements, supporting AVAR's strategic growth. This role demands both technical expertise and commercial acumen, with regular travel across GCC countries to foster relationships and drive business development activities.
 
Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across GCC markets.
  • Promote AVAR's services and solutions within Data Centers, Critical Infrastructure, Energy, Telecommunications, Industrial, Commercial, Government, and Healthcare sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with consultants, EPC contractors, system integrators, developers, end users, and technology partners.
  • Generate leads through networking, client meetings, market research, and industry events.
  • Conduct technical and commercial presentations to prospective clients.
  • Support the preparation of technical proposals, commercial quotations, tender submissions, and bid documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, estimation, procurement, and project delivery teams to develop competitive solutions.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and support the commercial closing of projects.
  • Maintain and manage a healthy sales pipeline using the company's CRM system.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies across the GCC.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and business development reports.
  • Support smooth project handovers from the sales phase to project execution.
  • Represent AVAR at exhibitions, conferences, client meetings, and industry networking events.
  • Ensure excellent customer experience through proactive communication and relationship management.
Must have requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, or related discipline).
  • 3–7 years of experience in business development, technical sales, sales engineering, or account management.
  • Experience within one or more of the following sectors: Data Centers, Critical Infrastructure, MEP, Energy, Industrial Services, Telecommunications, or Digital Infrastructure.
  • Strong technical understanding of engineering solutions and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals and participating in tender submissions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build long-term relationships with customers and business partners.
  • Strong commercial awareness and customer-focused approach.
  • Professional proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across GCC countries.
Nice to have requirements
  • Experience working across multiple GCC countries.
  • Existing network with consultants, contractors, developers, telecom operators, hyperscalers, or data center operators.
  • Knowledge of international standards related to critical infrastructure and data centers.
  • Experience with EPC projects and large infrastructure developments.
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of regional procurement and tendering processes.
