The Procurement Engineer will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of purchasing goods and services for the company, as well as facilitating the sales operations to ensure efficiency and profitability. This role requires strong negotiation skills, a keen understanding of market trends, and the ability to forge and maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will lead a team of procurement officers, manage approval workflows within the company's ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics), and provide crucial commercial and bid support to executive leadership and country heads.
Responsibilities
Functional Procurement Management: Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness. Oversee the end-to-end procurement lifecycle from initial requisition to final delivery, ensuring efficient daily operations.
Technical Procurement Responsibilities: Evaluate engineering specifications, technical drawings, and project requirements to accurately source specialized materials and equipment. Ensure all procured items align with exact technical standards and project quality requirements.
Support on Vendor Management: Assess and manage existing suppliers and contracts, negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms. Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers to negotiate the best prices and track efficiencies in cost reductions. Oversee vendor onboarding, conduct regular audits, and resolve high-level supplier disputes to ensure a resilient supply chain.
ERP Approval Responsibilities (Microsoft Dynamics): Act as the key procurement approver within Microsoft Dynamics. Review and authorize Purchase Requisitions (PRs), Purchase Orders (POs), and vendor agreements in the system, ensuring data accuracy, budget alignment, and strict adherence to internal workflow protocols.
Team Management Responsibilities: Directly manage, mentor, and lead a team of at least two procurement officers. Delegate tasks efficiently, oversee daily output, conduct performance evaluations, and foster professional development within the procurement team.
Management Reporting: Report to the Chief Officers to align procurement strategies with overall business and corporate departments objectives. Present regular executive summaries detailing procurement spend, cost-saving initiatives, vendor performance metrics, and team productivity.
Supporting Country Heads in Commercial Proposals: Collaborate closely with country heads to develop competitive commercial proposals. Provide accurate material and service pricing structures to ensure proposals are financially viable while meeting client deadlines with providing offers and proposals. Collaborate with the sales team to maximize profit by ensuring that products are purchased from suppliers at the best possible price and sold at the most competitive price.
Supporting Bid Department: Serve as the primary procurement liaison for the bid department during tender developments. Supply accurate cost estimations, source competitive project-specific quotes, and analyze vendor bids to strengthen the company's tender submissions.
Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with clients and cultivate new client relationships to expand business reach.
Compliance & Contract Management: Ensure all procurement and sales activities adhere to legal and ethical standards. Draft, evaluate, and manage contracts with vendors and customers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Must Have Requirements
Proven experience in sales and procurement or a similar role.
Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team of at least two procurement officers.
Hands-on experience navigating, executing, and approving workflows within Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing suppliers and contracts.
Organizational skills in managing all aspects of the procurement process.
