Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. To ensure the accurate recording and maintenance of financial data, uphold regulatory compliance, and support the broader finance function throughout their day-to-day activities.
Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day accounting transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger postings.
- Perform regular bank, supplier, customer, and intercompany reconciliations to ensure accurate and updated records.
- Assist with monthly and year-end financial closings, guaranteeing transactions are timely and precisely recorded.
- Prepare and maintain accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules.
- Support in the preparation of monthly financial reports such as profit & loss and balance sheet schedules.
- Compile and maintain documentation for UAE VAT returns, ensuring correct VAT transaction recording.
- Maintain robust supporting documentation for invoices, payments, expenses, and journal entries.
- Assist with both external and internal audits, providing necessary schedules and support documents.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable aging and follow up on outstanding items.
- Ensure strict compliance with company accounting policies, IFRS, and UAE regulatory standards.
- Support cash flow monitoring and payment preparations as needed.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and gather required documentation.
Must have requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the UAE.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and UAE regulations.
- Proficiency in handling general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end processes.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Strong Excel skills and adeptness at working with large datasets.
- Familiarity with UAE VAT laws and preparation of VAT returns.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with wider teams.
Nice to have requirements
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Completion of or progress toward professional accounting qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA).
- Prior experience in external or internal audit support.
- Background in multinational or large UAE-based organizations.
- Advanced data analysis skills using Excel or business intelligence tools.
